Nicknamed the “Bandit” by radio broadcaster Les Grobstein, Liz led the WBL in steals (136) the first season, and is second on the all-time steals list. At only 5’9″, she also led the Hustle in defensive rebounding the inaugural season. Liz was less than a single rebound from averaging a double-double (13 ppg/9.3 rpg/4.0spg)

Machine Gun Molly” was her nick name because this quick sharp shooter could fill up a basket with high velocity and accuracy like no other in the league. Molly played her last season with the SF Pioneers and joined the “30 Club” which is the number of women who played all three years in the WBL. A 3X All-Star and All Pro, Molly was the league Co-MVP with Ann Meyers during the 2nd season of the league. She holds the single game scoring record of 55 points and season average record of (32.8 ppg)

Adrian was the WBL second season #2 draft pick for the Chicago Hustle. As a scorer, rebounder, and defender, Adrian brought her triple threat attack to the WBL after a record setting collegiate career at Kansas University. At only 5’9″ she scored most of her points from the post position. Adrian was a WBL All-Star and All-Pro selection, averaging 10.9 ppg and 6.1 rpg.

WBL Team: Washington Metros, Milwaukee Does, Chicago Hustle, St. Louis Streak
Charlene made her debut into the WBL with the Washington Metros in its second season. After the Metros folded she was picked up by the Milwaukee Does and averaged 18.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg, and was selected MVP of the All-Star Game. Charlene then became a member of the Chicago Hustle where she averaged 15.4 ppg and 8.2 rpg. She finished out her pro career with the St. Louis Streak.

PEGGIE GILLOM GRANDERSON

Peggie entered the WBL as the all-time leading scorer (2,486) and rebounder (1,271) in Ole Miss history (male or female). She was drafted by the Dallas Diamonds for the third and final season of the WBL. Peggie was an assistant coach for the WNBA Houston Comets, an assistant for the 1990 USA Pan American team and the 2000 gold medal winning women’s basketball Olympic team.

Trish was Pat Summit’s first All-American and first African-American player. She played her first two WBL seasons in Minnesota and her last year in the league in St. Louis where she averaged 16.8 ppg and 7.6 rpg. Trish was a member of the 1976 Olympic team (the first women’s basketball team to participate in the Olympic games). Many believe that this team helped propel the WBL.

RETHA SWINDELL

WBL Team: Chicago Hustle, Dallas Diamonds
Retha is the only player in UT history to score 1500+ points (1,795) and collect 1500+ rebounds (1,759). Entering the WBL as the second season #1 draft pick for the Chicago Hustle, her impact was immediate, averaging 9.2 ppg and 9.9 rpg. Retha was a defensive specialist, rebounder, shot blocker and adept at stealing the ball. She finished her professional career with the Dallas Diamonds helping lead the team to the WBL finals.

Debra K. Thomas “DK” helped guide the Cornets to consecutive Division Championship games, finishing runner-up to the first-year league champions Houston Angels and second year champions New York Stars. An athletic transitional player and a refined offensive scorer in the half court, “DK averaged 12.6 ppg making her an integral part of the Iowa Cornet machine that was one of the dominant teams in the WBL.
