The LOB, Inc. trip to NYU was a three-day event that featured engagement with two classes, showcasing our historical exhibit, and a reception with fellow members of the sports world, including representatives from the WNBA, WBL, Yahoo Sports, NYU, and others who are connected by sports.
During the three-day event at NYU board president Elizabeth Galloway McQuitter collaborated on an event hosted by Tiffany Bullock and was joined by ESPN director Carolyn Hepburn at the NBA/WNBA headquarters. The event was part of a celebration of women in history sponsored by Women X and the Network of Emerging Talent (NET) and Women’s Network.
The invite came from Vince Genarro, former owner of the St. Louis Streak of the WBL and currently the Associate Dean at the Tish Institute for Global Sport at NYU. He included his fellow associates, David Hollander, Assistant Dean-Real World and Clinical professor, and author of “How Basketball Can Save the World” (class of the same title) at the Tish Institute and Gina Antoniello, Clinical Assistant Professor and Academic Director of Undergraduate Programs at Tisch/NYU.
We were able to speak to the mission of the program which Vince says “seeks to show the power of sports to create social change and impact and the value every human brings. Part of that is sharing the history, struggles, and barriers that were confronted”. This fits well with the mission of LOB, Inc. NYU is also the home of the Division III women’s basketball National Champions!!
