Legends of the Ball, Inc. Officers Honored as WBL Trailblazers by Phoenix Mercury
On an unforgettable night in Phoenix, Legends of the Ball, Inc. (LOB) officers Liz McQuitter, Molly Kazmer, Adrian Newell, and Charlene Jackson were honored as WBL (Women’s Professional Basketball League) Trailblazers by the Phoenix Mercury. This recognition not only celebrated their significant contributions to the early days of women’s professional basketball but also highlighted the enduring impact of their pioneering efforts.
The evening was a special convergence of past, present, and future basketball legends. LOB officers had the distinct honor of visiting with some of the most influential figures in the sport today, including 4th WNBA President Lisa Borders, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, and Atlanta Dream Owner Renee Montgomery. The officers also shared inspiring moments with LOB Advisory Board Member Anne Meyers, a basketball icon in her own right, along with several WNBA and college players who looked to them as trailblazers who paved the way for their careers.
As they reminisced about the WBL days and discussed the ongoing evolution of women’s basketball, these meetings underscored the deep respect and admiration that spans across generations in the sport. The acknowledgment by the Phoenix Mercury not only cements the legacy of these remarkable women but also reaffirms LOB, Inc.’s mission to preserve and honor the history of women’s basketball while inspiring the next generation of athletes.
This recognition is a testament to the resilience, dedication, and passion of the LOB, Inc. officers and serves as an inspiration for all who continue to break barriers in women’s sports. We look forward to continuing our work in preserving the rich history of women’s basketball and supporting the athletes who carry the torch forward.
