LOB, Inc. wants to give a huge thank you to Amber Cox (Wings COO), Hannah Nelson, Nancy Lieberman, and other Wings personnel for their inclusion and recognition of the WBL.

The WNBA Dallas Wings honored members of the WBL Dallas Diamonds and other WBL/LOB, Inc. members as they introduced the Annual Nancy Lieberman “Women of Distinction” Awards. The three recipients of the awards were Opal Lee, Grandmother of Juneteenth; Monica Paul, Director of the Dallas Sports Commission; and Cynt Marshall, Executive Director of the Dallas Mavericks. LOB, Inc. board members and Nancy Lieberman were interviewed about the importance of knowing the history of the first professional women’s basketball league in the United States. LOB also showcased their traveling exhibit celebrating the women of the WBL and their contributions to the game. Fans were able to enjoy a great game and learn the history that propelled the WNBA to its current status.

LOB, Inc. Board members Liz Galloway McQuitter (Chicago Hustle); Debra Thomas (Iowa Cornets) and Dallas Diamonds representatives Retha Swindell, Peggie Gillom Granderson, Gwen Walker’s niece and OriAnn Phillips (widow of Dallas Diamonds team owner Judson Phillips), and standing in for Gwen Walker, her niece Genai Walker were introduced at half time of the Wings game.

The Wings are the second WNBA team to acknowledge members of the WBL following the Chicago Sky’s recognition in the summer of 2022.
